When Scott Cline was first diagnosed with brain cancer our family diligently researched to find the best medical care in the country to fight this disease. It was important to find an institution that would give the most advanced care allowing the best quality of life possible and provide comfort and peace of mind to Scott and his family. The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke provided Scott with all of this and much more. We believe that through the cutting edge treatment offered at Duke, Scott was able to enjoy an incredibly memorable year with his family!
Public research funds are distributed based on the incidence of a given disease. Because brain cancer causes just two percent of all cancer deaths each year, it is officially classified as an “orphan disease” – a term that sums up its place in the eyes of federal funding agents.
The federal government has acknowledged the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center as an unsurpassed leader. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded the program numerous research grants. Still, funding from public agencies covers only a portion of the costs.
With your support of the James Scott Cline Memorial Golf Tournament, we can help the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke continue to focus on funding the search for a cure, while improving the quality and length of life for patients. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised each year will go to researching new treatments for brain cancer!
